Unofficial P&Gdad Chris reviews the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler.

Before I begin, I have a rather embarrassing confession to make. Up until very recently – pretty much RIGHT before I wrote this – I had never used a razor blade to shave.

I am a 31-year-old man.

It took me until my late teens to consistently grow something resembling facial hair. Once that became a relatively dependable occurrence, I used an electric shaver, and kept using it. Shaving cream, aftershave, multiple blade razors – these items were as foreign to me as they would be to a caveman.

So when Sarah mentioned she was receiving a Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler, I thought this would be an ideal time to finally shave like a grown-ass man.

Now, granted, this isn’t your grandpappy’s razor blade. The Fusion ProGlide Styler has everything a guy needs for total facial hair domination – power trimmer, power razor, edging blade, three attachable combs, two turtledoves, and a partridge in a pear tree.

After lathering on some shaving cream for the first time in my life that I can remember – excluding any prank-related reasons – I put razor to face, and took a stroke. It felt…weird. And yet strangely satisfying.

I didn’t want a super-close shave my first go-around, because I had just got a haircut a few hours before and wasn’t interested in looking 15 years old again. Therefore, I started playing around with the Power Trimmer, which was definitely more my speed. It’s engineered by Braun, which is the brand of electric razor I buy, so I was instantly more comfortable. It was comfortable to hold and easy to clean as well. Oh, and if you’re into manscaping, it can even be used for body hair.

I definitely got more precision in the delicate, hard to reach spots with the Power Trimmer. If nothing else, I’d use it just for that, though I fully intend to overcome my somewhat silly phobia and use the actual razor.

For men who’ve actually been shaving properly all this time, the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler is the total package. Whether you’re a cold-weather beard guy or a smooth-as-a-baby’s-behind all-year-round guy, it’s got you covered. So use it in confidence! Or, if you’re like me, slowly work up the courage to use it in a somewhat confident fashion. We’ll get there together!
