Celebrate Earth Day with Netflix programming #StreamTeam

Hannah's favourite "wild" animal is probably the squirrel. When we go to Grandma's house, her favourite thing to do is go out on the balcony and make a noise by sucking her cheeks to try to get the squirrels to come closer. If one crosses her path outside, well, that easily becomes the best part of the day.

So it's no surprise that one of Hannah's favourite episodes of Bubble Guppies prominently features a squirrel. Nonny meets the squirrel in the park on his way to school and they exchange acorns. In this episode the Guppies learn about trees and recycling, and help to clean the park when the wind blows recycling and garbage everywhere (click the third link in the list below to be taken to the episode).

This Earth Day you can watch family friendly nature-related episodes of your favourite kids shows on Netflix Canada. Some great ones include:

New Board Books from Raincoast Books are unique, colourful and fun (#Review & #Giveaway)

One of my favourite things to do with Hannah is read her books. I love using funny voices for different characters. I like asking her to find me things on the page. But mostly, I love that before I can say, "The End"; she says, "AGAIN!"

We recently received some new Board Book titles from Raincoast Books. Hannah's favourites are Peek-A-Zoo! by Nina Laden and A Tree For All Seasons by Maryse Guittet.

Shop Walmart for P&G products to give #CleanWater to those in developing countries #PGmom #Giveaway

Hannah loves water. She loves to drink it. She loves to swim in it. She loves bath time. As Canadians, we often take for granted that clean water is just turing a tap away. Others around the world are not so lucky.

Approximately one billion people do not have clean drinking water, many of which are children in the developing world. As a result, thousands of children die every day. The P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program helps provide clean drinking water to these people through a water purifying technology developed by P&G. One small P&G purification packet quickly turns 10 litres of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean, drinkable water.

Nearly 7 billion litres of clean drinking water have been provided by humanitarian organizations across the globe using P&G packets, helping to save an estimated 39,000 lives in more than 75 countries.

Rev up your oral care routine with Crest & Oral-B! #Giveaway #PGmom

It's almost funny that April is National Oral Health month - only because I have an upcoming dentist appointment. The worst time I was in the dentist's chair was when I was 35 weeks pregnant and had a wisdom tooth pulled. 70 per cent of all pregnant women suffer from inflamed gums, which is a sign of gingivitis...but not all pregnant women get teeth pulled!

To keep your teeth healthy and happy, through pregnancy or not, dentists recommend brushing twice daily for two minutes (I love my Oral-B® ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide™ Electric Toothbrush - it times my brushing for me), flossing once daily and using a rinse. Most Canadians do admit to not following this routine.

Ride for Karen supports children living with cancer

The Ride for Karen is an annual cycling event that has raised over $2 million to support children living with cancer. For the past 12 years, the Ride for Karen has taken place the first weekend of September. The event is a fantastic day of fully-supported cycling – for you AND your kids – plus the important distinction that 100% of money raised supports children living with cancer. Even if you’re not avid cyclists, you and your kids can participate!

In addition to a century ride, the Ride for Karen features 25km and 100km courses. While you’re riding, your kids can participate in the Kids Fun Ride, geared towards 2 to 12 year olds. Held in an enclosed and supervised area before the start/finish section of the ride, kids will be challenged to obtain sponsorship per lap they ride and to ride at least their age in laps. When not on their bicycles, they can enjoy jumping castles, face painting and other fun activities.

The Ride for Karen takes place Sunday, September 7, 2014 and starts at the Markham Fair Grounds.

New episodes of #TurboFAST race to Netflix Canada on April 4th (#Review & #Giveaway)

Turbo and his Fast Action Stunt Team (FAST) are back with brand new Netflix original programming episodes that start streaming April 4th. Follow their zany adventures as they go up against new enemies - and one old one!

I had a chance to preview the new episodes - and I couldn't stop laughing.

Turbo FAST is probably best for school-aged kids with its slapstick, potty humour, but teenagers and adults will definitely enjoy it too due to the observational humour made by specific members of FAST.

Each 23 minute episode has two stories. My favourite episode of the new ones has to be 106. In "Turbo Stinks", Turbo's promotional brand merchandising has gone a little too far - birds are attracted to his latest product, cologne and start attacking the city. The team needs to figure out a way to get rid of the birds, and Turbo takes us all on a wild chase down the freeway until a side attraction provides the perfect solution.
