Cuteness and Fun at the Bowmanville Zoo #bowmanvillecubs #bowmanvillezoo

Less than an hour east of Toronto, Bowmanville Zoo is the perfect place for kids. With my toddler's limited attention span, there are no long walks between enclosures. She can go at her own pace, and if she wanted, walk the entire zoo. She can pet the animals and feed them. And, she can attempt to be as cute as the new lion cubs!

This past weekend we visited the Bowmanville Zoo and had the opportunity to meet five week old lion cubs. I learned that the cubs are currently under 24 hour surveillance, and that they each go home with a keeper every night!

The cubs are cute and playful - they were interested in our shoes, and were happy to accept pats. You can meet the cubs now too, the schedule will be posted at the gate each morning.

On July 16th, the Bowmanville Zoo will be announcing a contest to name the lion cubs! Be sure to check their Facebook page for information on the contest and prizes available.

Aside from seeing and feeding the animals, there is plenty to do. We all enjoyed the show at the Animatheatre. Hannah clapped along to the music and enjoyed watching the different animals as they each had their turn in the spotlight. For adults, the show is very educational and often alarming - some of the animals showcased are close to being extinct. However, Hannah's favourite part of the day was spending OVER an hour at the Splash Bash.

Have you visited the Bowmanville Zoo? Here's your chance! For the rest of the summer, YYZ Bambina readers can take advantage of $10 admission! Just print the coupon below.
