Sesame Place a must visit for Sesame Street fans #SesamePlace
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, most people would choose to visit an exotic location or travel to family far away. Not me. I'd want to go to Langhorne, Pennsylvania. My family travelled there this summer and our day in Langhorne was by far my favourite of the entire vacation. As soon as we drove away, I immediately wanted to go back. Because, even though Sesame Street is set in New York City, Sesame Place is in Langhorne.

The catchy educational songs of Big Block SingSong come to DVD Oct. 28th! #Giveaway #Review
I was home on mat leave with Hannah the first time we saw Big Block SingSong. It was definitely unlike anything I had seen before. Big colourful block characters sing catchy educational songs in a variety of musical genres. It caught Hannah's young eye because of the screenfuls of colour. I liked it because the songs have a great beat and quirky lyrics.
Now that she's a preschooler, Hannah likes watching Big Block SingSong for the music - and the quick story lines. She likes to guess the animal if there is one in that episode, and she often dances along while playing her tambourine. I still like it because it reminds me of Flight of the Concords for kids.
The fun and engaging animated musical series, which currently airs across the globe on TV (Kids' CBC in Canada), will be available on DVD for the first time ever in the U.S. and Canada on October 28th.

Pawsitively Pets offers educational, up-close encounters with a variety of animals
Hannah has entered a phase wherein whenever she enters an open space she just wants to run. Not so at Pawsitively Pets. Recently we participated in a Preschool Tadpole Class at the Leaside location. I think she was impressed as Chris and I were.
Michelle, our program instructor, started off by singing a song to welcome the kids to the class. Then she read a book that had actions the children could do - the class was all about movement and how different animals move.

Baby Time is FUN Time at the Toronto Public Library
On Wednesday morning, Chris and I took Hannah to her second "class". I was quite nervous about how she would react.
The first class we ever attended she cried loudly for a good 10 minutes and then fell asleep for the rest. I guess to be fair I should mention her first class was a breastfeeding class at Sunnybrook and she attended before she was even 24 hours old.
Regardless, I was still curious as to how she would behave when we took her to Baby Time at the Toronto Public Library.
The 30 minute program for babies 0-18 months old includes songs, rhymes and the reading of interactive storybooks. The class gives parents and caregivers suggestions and ideas on how to encourage reading as the child ages.
Turns out, Hannah was an almost perfect pupil (other than starring at the blond baby boy beside her for a good 10 minutes - first crush already?!?!). She cooed and even joyfully squealed while we sang some of the songs. I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed bouncing her, tickling her and singing to her too. And I even learned some new songs that I now sing to Hannah at home!
We will definitely be going back when the program resumes at our library in July. In the meantime, I can't wait to take her to Baby Sign at our branch which is starting in a couple of weeks.
