As a first-time mom who has gone back to work after maternity leave, I often feel like there is never enough hours in the day. I lack time, I lack sleep and I lack cuddles with my baby (er, toddler...). It seems like everything has become more overwhelming difficult than it ever was before. So when I was contacted by Thought Spots to review a Thought Pack, the choice was simple - I needed pick me ups for Positive Parenting.
As Thought Spots says, "It’s all about living with intention and keeping the good stuff in sight…and in mind!"
Thought Spots are removable, reusable and re-positionable "spots" with inspiring messages, learning concepts, everyday communication and growth-building thoughts. They easily stick to mirrors and other shiny surfaces (it even stuck cleanly to my computer screen!). They have no adhesive, so are easy to remove, change and store on the original sheet.
My favourites from the Positive Parenting currently are "Find Balance" (because I have yet to), "Practice being patient" (one that I need more in my car than dealing with my daughter, but works with her too) and "What do I love most about my child? Tell them" (which I have now started to do - Hannah may not understand the words I am saying, but she can definitely tell by my tone I am happy and proud of her).
Chris' favourite is probably the "Compromise. There's more than one way." Which, perfectly describes two people who love each other attempting to raise a child. I always believe my way is best (of course), but if Chris' way has the same result, I should back off and let him do things they way he thinks is best. At least sometimes.
I've stuck a few on my wardrobe mirror so I see them every morning and every night before bed. I really like how I can interchange them so easily, when I need to be reminded of certain truths during specific situations.
It's amazing how one little Thought Spot can change your mood - and your mind.
And when Hannah graduates to the preschool room? She's totally getting a Little Reminders Thought Pack. The Spots for the washroom are priceless, and along with my Positive Parenting ones, will hopefully result in less nagging on my part.
